Abstrak
Penyelidikan tindakan ini dijalankan untuk membantu murid mengesan jawapan dalam soalan pemahaman. Dalam tinjauan awal mendapati murid sukar mengaitkan soalan ujian dengan jawapan berdasarkan petikan. Kumpulan sasaran seramai 30 orang murid tahun 5 Bestari di sekitar Kuala Lumpur. Alat kajian yang digunakan ialah Analisis Dokumen, Ujian Bacaan dan Kefahaman Awal, Ujian Bacaan dan Kefahaman Akhir, Soal Selidik, dan Temu Bual Berstruktur. Kajian ini dijalankan berdasarkan adaptasi Model Lewin (1946) dan Laidlaw (1992). Tindakan yang dijalankan ialah penerangan kepada murid tentang teknik warna dan kata kunci secara jelas dan teliti. Dua siri latih tubi dilaksanakan bagi memberikan pengukuhan kepada murid tentang teknik yang diperkenalkan. Seterusnya, Temu Bual Berstruktur dijalankan kepada enam orang murid bagi mendapatkan pandangan murid tentang tajuk kajian ini. Selain itu, semua murid turut diberikan borang soal selidik skala likert lima bagi mendapatkan pemikiran dan pandangan secara menyeluruh. Hasil analisis Ujian Bacaan Dan Kefahaman Akhir mendapati 25 orang responden (83.33 peratus) mendapat gred A berbanding Ujian Bacaan dan Kefahaman Awal iaitu seramai 15 orang responden (40 peratus). Seramai empat orang mendapat B (13.33 peratus) dan seorang sahaja berada pada gred C (6.67 peratus). Implikasi kajian ialah murid dapat mengetahui cara mengesan jawapan dan memahami kehendak soalan melalui teknik warna dan kata kunci yang diperkenalkan ini. Cadangan kajian kitaran kedua ialah penambahan aspek penguasaan kosa kata baharu berdasarkan petikan teks untuk meningkatkan kefahaman murid.
Abstract
This action research was conducted to help pupils in finding the answers for comprehension questions. In the initial survey, it is found that pupils have difficulty to relate the test questions with answers based on the passage. 30 students from Year 5 Bestari in Kuala Lumpur was chosen as the target group this action research. Document Analysis, Reading Test and Early Understanding, Reading Test and End Understanding, Survey and Structured Interview were used as the research tools in this study. This study was adapted based on the Lewin model (1946) and Laidlaw model (1992). Among the actions taken in this study were color and keyword identification techniques. Two series of drilling exercises were performed in order to strengthen pupils’ understanding with the techniques. Next, a structured interview was carried out to six pupils to seek views about the topic of this study. Apart from that, all pupils were given Likert’s five scale questionnaire in order to get the thoughts and opinions as a whole. Analysis of the result based on the Reading Test and End Understanding showed that 25 respondents (83.33 percent) received grade A as compared to 15 respondents (40 percent) from the Reading Test and Early Understanding. Four pupils received grade B (13.33 percent) and only one grade C (6.67 percent). The result of this study showed that students were able to find out how to track the correct answer of comprehension questions by using the color and keyword identification techniques. The second proposal for this study was to add new vocabulary aspect based on text passages in order to enhance pupils’ understanding.
